It is with great pleasure that Composites Australia and the Composites CRC invite you to participate in:

Conference 2010  “City of Composites”
at the Stamford Grand Adelaide Hotel, Glenelg Beach, Adelaide
Conference Sessions:
Thursday & Friday 29th & 30th April 2010

City of composites? New applications for composites are being found every day. Innovative applications for composites are also driven by environmental issues, and the need for materials which are lighter and stronger. Careful selection of reinforcement type enables a finished product’s physical strength characteristics to be tailored to almost any specific engineering requirement. Almost any article which can be produced in traditional materials such as wood and metals can be manufactured from composites.

Despite current worldwide economic pressures, the composites industry remains a vibrant, growing and unique industry.

Australia’s composites conference showcases the full composites & fibreglass value chain and attracts attendees from all key industries -  including automotive and transport, aerospace,  building & construction, civil infrastructure, corrosion,  energy, marine, mining, and recreation.

The Programme includes the following speakers:
Keynote Speakers:

Scott Beckwith, International Technical Director, SAMPE, and President, BTG Composites Inc. (USA),
speaking on:

1. “FRP and Advanced Composites: Contributions to Our Expanding Energy Market Needs”
2
“Tooling Technology – Current State-of-the-Art and New Materials”   (Fabricators Friday Presentation)

Fred Abbink, General Director, The Netherlands National Aerospace Laboratory – NLR
(The Netherlands),  speaking on:

“The Past, the Present and the Future – Three Generations of Composites Development at NLR”
And a few more of our speakers:

Jack Little, President, ILD, Inc / Evisive, Inc. (USA)
“Non Destructive Microwave Inspection of Composite Structures”

Dennis Southam, Dennis Southam & Associates
“ The Devil is in the Detail”:
A number of case histories will be presented where catastrophic failures have resulted from poor design, fabrication or lack of attention to detail.

Arthur Rendell, Regina Glass Fibre
“Persistence Pays – Murphy’s Law In Practice” : Highlighting pot holes, cul-de-sacs and road blocks encountered on the journey to commercialize FireShield®. and leading to the firm conviction that Murphy was an optimist!

Rik Heslehurst, School of Aerospace, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, UNSW at the Australian Defence Force Academy
TUTORIAL: “ Composite Structural Repairs”

Fabricators, suppliers and end-users can participate on many levels – as conference delegates, sponsors and presenters. In 2010 we expect delegates from across Australia, New Zealand and the world.

Held over two days on Glenelg Beach, a short drive or tram ride from Adelaide city centre and accessible to South Australia’s famous wine growing districts, this event offers a great opportunity to do business, make new contacts and learn the latest in the industry.

Bring your family and stay on for the weekend, exploring the city, nearby wine country, fantastic beaches, and other attractions and touring the beautiful areas nearby!

To make it easy for you to decide to attend, this website can provide you with all you need to know
about the event.

Remember to book your accommodation and flights early!

Partnership

We are proud that the Composites CRC is again partnering with Composites Australia for this event. Together, we have developed the Conference to advance the industry by promoting and encouraging greater uptake of the latest in fibre composites technology.

The Conference
Two days of technical and practical presentations, workshops, tutorials and live demonstrations covering a range of topics to suit all interests, from fabrication issues to innovations and engineering applications.

The Dinner
The conference dinner - the industry event you won’t want to miss - will be held on Thursday 29th April overlooking Glenelg Beach and the Southern Ocean.

The Venue
The Stamford Grand Adelaide hotel is one of Australia’s leading resort style hotels, boasting panoramic views of the ocean, city and Adelaide Hills.
